We have a new meeting place!
Hello Everyone,
I apologize
for the status of the running club over the last
month or so. We have been pursuing many different options for finding a
permanent home to meet every week. We listened to the group's requests and
came up with the criteria of what we were looking for in our new home base.
The criteria we came up with, was to find a place with: bathrooms, heat,
water, central location in Belchertown, coffee, and a place were we can feel
free to talk and laugh and not disturb anyone's work. As of this morning I
met with branch manager of the Dunkin Donuts on rt. 202 (Not the DD on rt.
9). She was very excited to work in conjunction with the SRRC and she has
offered us space in her building for our Sunday runs. We both agree that
there is a great potential for good PR for both DD & SRRC with us using the
slogan "we run on Dunkin". She has already spoken to the regional GM for
Dunkin Donuts and there is a pretty good chance that she will be getting us
DD t-shirts to run in. In case anyone beats me there on Sunday, she has
asked that we congregate at the tables at the far end of their dining area.
(she said she was going to reserve the tables for us, so look for signs) she
also said we are free to leave anything at the tables that we want while we
are running. There is not a ton of available parking spaces at the DD, so we
should try to not take up all of their parking spaces.
Also now that the weather is starting to break I am going to schedule a date
with the Sentinel to come out and do a story on our DD/SRRC connection to
try to draw more attention to our running club. I will let everyone know
what the date is when I schedule it. Hopefully it won't be one of those
Sunday's when 3 people show up :-). I look forward to seeing
everyone at the Dunkin Donuts on rt.202 this Sunday at 10:00 am. Thanks,
Andrew Brower
